Who are we

Berkhamsted Bowmen is the oldest club in Hertfordshire preceding the formation of the County Association. It was founded in 1950, and is affiliated to the Hertfordshire Archery Association (HAA), The Hertfordshire Archery Society (HAS), Southern Counties Archery Society (SCAS) and Archery GB (AGB).

Bow disciplines

Bow disciplines include Longbow, Recurve, Barebow, Asiatic and Compound. Regrettably Crossbows are not allowed within the club.

Shooting Times

We shoot throughout the year with a comprehensive Shooting Programme.

  • Winter (October to March): Sunday Mornings, Wednesday Afternoon (Outdoor) & Tuesday, Friday Evenings (Indoor).
  • Summer (April to September Outdoor): Sunday Mornings plus Tuesday, Thursday Evenings & Wednesday Afternoon. We also shoot an All-Day Round on one Sunday in the month.

Location

We shoot at the Berkhamsted Hockey Club which is in ‘Northchurch’ and behind the 'The Artisan' formerly 'The Cow Roast Inn' on the A4251.

Directions:

From Tring travel on the A4251 towards Berkhamsted. After approx. 1 mile you will come across the The Artisan which is situated on the right hand side of the road. Take the track alongside the pub for approx. 400 yards. At the left fork carry straight on for about 100 yrds untill you come to another left hand turn which goes down to the all weather hockey pitch, park here by the hockey fence.

From Berkhamsted town centre travel on the A4251 towards Tring. At the Artisan on the left proceed as above.
